Education

Education transforms the lives of children as well as of their families. In the long term only good schooling can improve the lives of children and their families. The scholars have weekly group meetings with the Canossian Sisters or social workers respectively. The scholars’ parents also receive guidance and training in various programmes.
The initial number of 60 sponsorships has increased to over 300 now. The programme has been extended from two original locations to six.
Many scholars have been able to graduate college and start a professional career, thus taking their lives into their own hands.
School sponsorship / School scholarship
You can acquire a school sponsorship for 28 euros per month by filling in, signing and returning the form to mabuhay.
You can contact your scholar by sending letters, cards or simply e-mails in English. If you need help with translations into English, we are happy to translate for you.
As in Germany, there is always the risk of scholars dropping out of school due to requirements being too high or school refusal. This means that the sponsorship is terminated prematurely or can be transferred to another child. Other reasons for a termination include relocation, parents earning more money and thus financing school themselves or children needed at the parents’ workplace.
Besides there is the option of a school scholarship, i.e. a school sponsorship without any personal contact to the child for 28 euros a month.
School sponsorships/ school scholarships can be terminated at any time.
A school sponsorship/ school scholarship covers the scholar’s school expenses. These include:
- school fees
- school material
- school uniform
- costs for photocopying
-
computer fees
- school transport
- shelter
After we have received the form for a school sponsorship, you will be sent the child’s details. These include:
- a cover letter
-
a report on the child’s situation (Case Study Report) including the place of residence and a photo of the child
